PERTINENT BIO OF DR. BAFITIS REGARDING HAIR RESTORATION
Dr. Bafitis is a double board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and general surgeon. He has been in practice in Palm Beach County for over 25 years. Dr. Bafitis holds professorships as clinical faculty at Nova Southeastern University Medical School, Lake Erie College of Medicine, and trains medical students, residents, and attending plastic surgeons for over 20 years.
Dr. Bafitis is one of but a handful of plastic surgeons in south Florida who has committed a significant part of his practice to hair restoration. It is significant to note that many physicians who do hair restoration and classify themselves as hair transplant surgeons, in fact, have little to no surgical training. Dr. Bafitis has held workshops in his offices at Wellington and Palm Beach Gardens/Jupiter to train other plastic surgeons in the art of doing hair restoration.
Dr. Bafitis has done pioneer work in the use of follicular units both here and in Greece and utilized the NeoGraft system as well as the robotic system in achieving optimal density when donor site is rare. Dr. Bafitis’ surgical scars are almost imperceptible after a year, and this has lead to many revisions of other people’s work to make sure that their scars are not an issue.
Dr. Bafitis has recently pioneered the use of an acellular tissue matrix biologic powder in the use of hair restoration. He has lectured nationally and internationally on this product for the use of wound healing and abdominal wall reconstruction. He has lectured to staff members from Johns Hopkins, University of Texas Medical Center in Houston, Ohio State, Detroit Medical Center, University of Miami Department of Plastic Surgery, and multiple other medical centers on the use of the stem cell stimulator. He has now used this stem cell stimulator in conjunction with follicular graft placement. It has significantly added density and literally woken up telegenetically sleeping follicles. This is off-label work and has proved to be significant in adding density to his follicular unit hair restoration, be it via NeoGraft, robotic, or strip modalities.
The most significant aspect to Dr. Bafitis’ practice besides the fact that he is a board certified plastic and general surgeon is that he is present at every procedure, personally designs the graft appearance, where the grafts should give maximal improvement, and personally does all the surgery. He has affiliated himself with the country’s VERY BEST hair technicians with the lead technician being Patrick Tafoya. Between Dr. Bafitis and Patrick Tafoya, there is over 50 years of hair experience with the latest advances being spearheaded by this progressive team. Dr. Bafitis is a key opinion leader for MatriStem (ACell), and Dr. Bafitis is a key opinion leader for Bard biologic matrices.
